TOKYO, JAPAN, January 10, 2002 --- NTT DoCoMo, Inc. and its eight regional companies announced today that they will launch a billing information service via
i
ppliTM, DoCoMo's JavaTM-based
service, that will enable users able to monitor accrued voice and packet transmission. The service will be introduced in i-mode service areas nationwide starting on January 15, 2002.
Compared with a similar service already available for i-mode phones, the new i
ppli service will offer more graphically rich billing information. In particular, users can download daily spending data in either text or bar chart formats. They can also download the text or a line graph that shows the total spending they have incurred from the beginning of the month until the day before they downloaded the billing information.
The new service is cost effective. While the existing service requires billing information to be downloaded in its entirety, the new service allows users to download only the latest figures, resulting in lower transmission charges.
The new service is available with only i
ppli-compatible i-mode handsets, including FOMA handsets.
There is no fixed monthly fee or special application to use the service. Transmission charges only apply.
