TOKYO, JAPAN, July 8, 2002 --- NTT DoCoMo, Inc. and eight regional subsidiaries announced today that they established a not-for-profit Mobile Communications Fund on July 5, 2002. The purpose of the philanthropic fund is to contribute to the world community by: |
| - | encouraging research and human resource development in the fields of internet and mobile communications |
| - | improving human welfare in all countries. |
Specific programs are planned as follows:
| 1. | contests to solicit research papers in relevant fields of internet and mobile communications | |
| 2. | scholarships and other assistance to students from Asian countries | |
| 3. | contributions to welfare organizations. |
|
Other similar civic-minded activities are planned. The new Mobile Communications Fund commemorates NTT DoCoMo's tenth year of operation, and highlights the company's focus on the multimedia society of the 21st century. The fund is one of several philanthropic programs DoCoMo has implemented. Attached is a list of board members for the fund. |
