TOKYO, JAPAN, March 25, 2002 --- NTT DoCoMo, Inc. and its eight regional companies today notified the Ministry of Public Management, Home Affairs, Post and Telecommunications of their new contract terms including revised fees for interconnection with other telecommunication operators. The changes apply retroactively from April 1, 2001. The new contract terms based on Paragraph 2, Article 38-3 of the Telecommunications Business Law were necessary as DoCoMo and its regional companies have been re-classified as Type I telecommunication carriers with Category II designated telecommunications facilities. This was a result of the autumn 2001 changes in the Telecommunications Business Law. Category II telecommunications facilities are designated telecommunications facilities that shall ensure adequate and smooth interconnection with the telecommunications facilities of other telecommunications carrier. DoCoMo's new contract complies with Paragraph 9-3, Article 23 of the Regulations for Enforcement of the Telecommunications Business Law, that details the technical specifications and time generally required to complete interconnections. Detailed information about the new interconnection contract will be posted on DoCoMo's website, and made available through other channels also, on the day when the revisions become effective, as required by Paragraph 9-4, Article 23 of the Regulations for Enforcement of the Telecommunications Business Law. |
