TOKYO, JAPAN, May 31, 2002 --- NTT DoCoMo, Inc. announced today that the company will begin selling its " SO504i" phone on June 3, 2002.The 504i series is the first group of PDC-based handsets compatible with enhanced , offering packet data transmission speeds of up to 28.8 Kbps, three times faster than the original PDC-based i-mode. They also support Java Archive (JAR) applications of up to 30 Kb and associated data of up to 100 Kb per application for rich i ppliTM content.The SO504i is equipped with a 2.0-inch (approx.), 65,536-color TFT LCD and has a three-dimensional polygon engine to display 3D video. It handles 40-chord ringing tones and incorporates Sony's word-processing technology to reduce the number of keystrokes when inputting Japanese text. The handset also has a special security function that prevents unauthorized people from accessing phone e-mail. The SO504i will be sold through all DoCoMo sales channels. Retail pricing will be open (unfixed). The model's standard accessory kit, including battery pack, AC adaptor and desktop holder, will cost 7,900 yen. |
