TOKYO, JAPAN, February 22, 2002 --- NTT DoCoMo, Inc. announced today that the company and its eight regional companies will launch the
Session Service to provide corporations with priority connection to the i-mode server. The service is scheduled to start March 1, 2002.
The service provides a lasting connection (session) to the DoCoMo i-mode server for highly reliable data transmissions to and from mobile phones equipped for the i-mode service. As a result, transmissions via the new service are more reliable than, for example, Internet mail, which is managed on a best-effort basis.
There is a
2,000 charge for registration and network construction costs
10,000. The customer pays a monthly basic fee of
15,000, which includes two free sessions per month. Each additional session costs
7,500. Applications to change the number of sessions also incur the
2,000 registration and
10,000 construction charges (regardless of number of sessions added/removed).
