NATIONWIDE LAUNCH OF "CMODE" SERVICE FROM APRIL 2002

Partnerships
Unique Consumer Service Combining Coca-Cola Vending Machines and NTT DoCoMo's i-mode
Tokyo, April 15, 2002 - Coca-Cola (Japan) Company, Limited, NTT DoCoMo, Inc., and Itochu Corporation announced today the nationwide launch from April 2002 of Cmode, the new consumer service the three companies have been operating on a trial basis in Shibuya area in Tokyo since September 2001.

Detailed analysis has shown Cmode to have high levels of consumer acceptance and to provide significant business opportunities. Starting April 2002, Cmode service will be expanded to other parts of Japan. The Coca-Cola Group plans to install Cmode-compatible vending machines called "Cmo" sequentially from April, with some 2,000 units, across Japan by year-end.

"Club Cmode" members will be able to buy admission tickets to amusement facilities, pay-per-download of information content and local area information such as maps starting April 15 via Cmo machines. In order to upgrade the range and depth of content provided by Cmode service, partnership will be formed with various content providers.

Moreover, content providers who provide membership services and install multiple Cmo machines at their commercial premises will be offered access to part of the Cmo user interface and server system that they can adapt to their needs for a fee. In this way, those content providers will efficiently have a low-cost path to develop CRM including membership management.
