CommunicAsia2001 is the biggest international information technology exhibition in Asia. The event will feature international participants from IT-related government agencies, the telecommunications industry and other industries. Most participants will be from Asia.
NTT DoCoMo's booth will be located in Hall 4, 4B2-01 and cover an area of 420 square meters. The company's main exhibits will include FOMA (Freedom Of Mobile multimedia Access), a third-generation wireless communication service based on W-CDMA technology and i-mode, the company's popular mobile Internet service.
At the FOMA corner, the company will introduce FOMA handsets and related service applications. Visitors also will be able to see a demonstration of two-way moving picture transmission between PDAs over a virtual FOMA network. The introductory phase of FOMA was launched on May 30 in Japan.
NTT DoCoMo also will display a variety of content for i-mode and introduce a line-up of new i-mode handsets. Visitors also will be able to take part in a hands-on demonstration of i appli, an advanced i-mode service incorporating Sun Microsystems' Java technology. "AOLi" service, which allows i-mode users to link seamlessly to AOL e-mail service via either i-mode handsets or PC, will be introduced at DoCoMo's booth as well.
Music and video content distribution services and location services will also be exhibited.
Two NTT DoCoMo executives will deliver keynote speeches and participate in panel discussions at CommunicAsia2001. Mr. Takeshi Natsuno, Executive Director of NTT DoCoMo Gateway Business Department, will deliver a speech titled "DoCoMo's i-mode-Toward Mobile Multimedia in 3G-" at the Conference Hall (Level 2, Foyer 1) on Wednesday, June 20, 2001, from 12:00 to 12:45.
Mr. Kyoji Murakami, Senior Manager of NTT DoCoMo IMT-2000 Network Office, will deliver a speech titled "DoCoMo IMT-2000: Current Activities and Future Development," at the same location on Thursday, June 21, 2001, from 14:30 to 15:30.
