TOKYO, JAPAN, November 9, 2001 --- NTT DoCoMo, Inc. will participate in "COMDEX Fall 2001," one of the world's largest Information Technology exhibitions, the company announced. COMDEX Fall 2001 will be held in Las Vegas from November 12 to 16, 2001. This is the first time for DoCoMo to participate in the event, which is held each year in the United States. It will also be the first time for DoCoMo to present "FOMA*," the world's first W-CDMA based third-generation wireless service, in the U.S. market. The service was fully commercialized in Japan on October 1, 2001.
The NTT DoCoMo booth (stand number: L5647) will be located in the CENTRAL HALL of the Las Vegas Convention Center, and it will cover an area of 424 square meters.
At the booth, DoCoMo will exhibit various FOMA mock-up handsets as well as its service applications.
The company's highly popular "i-mode" mobile internet service will also be introduced. Visitors will be able to enjoy demonstrations of i-mode content and applications, as well as examine various line-ups of i-mode compatible handsets.
In addition, visitors will be able to watch "Vision 2010," a video which explains a corporate vision that DoCoMo intends to realize by the year 2010. DoCoMo's R&D activities and the company's overseas subsidiaries will also be presented.
Two DoCoMo executives will deliver speeches and participate in panel discussions at the event. Mr. Nobuharu Ono, President and CEO of NTT DoCoMo USA, Inc. will deliver a speech titled "DoCoMo's Mobile Multimedia Strategy" at Center Hall L4421 of the convention center on November 12, from 12:00 to 12:30.
In addition, Mr. Takeshi Natsuno, Managing Director of NTT DoCoMo's i-mode strategy department, will deliver a speech titled "Wireless Access: Portals, gateways, and Internets" at the MGM Grand Conference Center (Room 319) on November 14, from 14:45 to 16:00.
COMDEX Fall 2001 is being organized by Key3Media Group, Inc. Last year, the event drew approximately 2,000 exhibitors and 225, 000 visitors. This year's event has been spread out among three venues, including the Las Vegas Convention Center, Las Vegas Hilton Hotel, and MGM Grand Conference Center. On November 12, the exhibition will be open from 10:30 to 17:00. From November 13 to 15, it will run from 10:00 to 17:00. On November 16, the final day, the exhibition will be open from 10:00 to 16:00.
* FOMA (Freedom Of Mobile multimedia Access) is the name used in Japan for NTT DoCoMo's 3G service.
