TOKYO, JAPAN, August 7, 2000---The number of subscribers to NTT DoCoMo's i-mode service topped 10 million on August 6, 2000. The service was launched 532 days ago on February 22, 1999. Currently, 591 companies are providing information services through i-mode. This is a nine-fold increase from the 67 firms that were signed on with the service at the time of its launch. In addition, there are about 1,000 official i-mode Web sites, along with another 18,700 independent sites, according to OH! NEW i-search, an i-mode search engine.
