YRP is aiming to become an integrated R&D center for industry, government and academia. At the facility, NTT DoCoMo will conduct basic research into mobile communications and the "IMT-2000" next-generation mobile communications system. It will also probe new technologies linked to 4th-generation and beyond 4th-generation wireless systems.
