TOKYO, JAPAN July 12, 2000 ---NTT DoCoMo, Inc. ("NTT DoCoMo") today announced that it has signed an agreement with KPN Mobile N.V. ("KPN Mobile"), to invest approximately four billion euros* (approx. 408 billion yen) in the Dutch-based mobile company. On May 9, 2000, NTT DoCoMo signed a Memorandum of Understanding with KPN** and its cellular phone unit, KPN Mobile, under which it will acquire 15% of Class A shares in KPN Mobile.
Following the investment in KPN Mobile N.V., NTT DoCoMo will participate in the development of wireless communication services in Europe through a number of cellular operators owned by KPN Mobile. In addition to participating in KPN Mobile's management by appointing board director, NTT DoCoMo will provide technical assistance by concluding a technological cooperation agreement with KPN Mobile in an effort to deploy multimedia services such as IMT-2000 and
i-mode in Europe as soon as possible.
