TOKYO, JAPAN, August 2, 2000---NTT DoCoMo, Inc. today submitted notification to the Minister of Posts and Telecommunications that it will begin an international roaming service using PDC/IS-95 dual-mode phones jointly with SK Telecom (President: Cho Jung Nam), a wireless communications operator headquartered in Seoul, South Korea.
In conjunction with the start of the service, the companies will introduce a PDC/IS-95 dual-mode phone, the P601wk, in both Japan and South Korea.
Subscribers of the service can use the same terminal both in South Korea and Japan, whereas the DoCoMo's current rental-based international roaming service, "WORLDWALKER", subscribers who wish to use the phone in South Korea must rent the additional terminal.
Both the service and phone are scheduled to be introduced on August 10, 2000. Details regarding both are shown on the following pages.

NTT DoCoMo
NTT DoCoMo is Japan's largest mobile communications company with a market capitalization of US$279 billion. As of June 2000, the company had more than 30 million subscribers. It had consolidated operating revenue of 3.7 trillion yen (approximately US$34.7 billion) in fiscal 1999 (year ended 31 March 2000). NTT DoCoMo was formed in July 1992 to take over the mobile communications operations and sales of Nippon Telegraph and Telephone (NTT). NTT DoCoMo provides nationwide services, including cellular, PHS phone, paging, satellite mobile communications and maritime and in-flight telephone services. The company also has subsidiaries in the United States, France and Brazil. In February 1999 NTT DoCoMo launched its "i-mode" service, which provides continuous connection with the Internet via mobile phones.
