ITU TELECOM ASIA 2000 is the biggest telecommunications exhibition in Asia. Hosted by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), the event showcases the latest in telecommunications technology and hardware. Forums are also held and most of the participants are industry professionals.
NTT DoCoMo will have a booth at the event. It will introduce service applications of the next-generation W-CDMA mobile communications system, which is slated for commercialization at the end of May 2001. Two-way moving picture transmission between PDAs using W-CDMA will be demonstrated at DoCoMo's booth. Conceptual mock-ups of W-CDMA terminals also will be exhibited.
The company also will display an outline and various contents of its popular mobile Internet service, "i-mode." Visitors also will be able to enjoy demonstrations of an existing and a future i-mode phone featuring JAVA software.
Moreover, visitors to the DoCoMo booth will be able to see either the actual terminals or information panels, which explain other domestic services or applications. These exhibits will include location services, music and animation distribution services, PHS 64K data communication services, and other mobile information terminals.
