NTT DoCoMo to Invest in The Japan Net Bank

TOKYO, JAPAN, March 29, 2000 -- NTT Mobile Communications Network, Inc. (NTT DoCoMo) has decided to invest in an Internet-based online bank, The Japan Net Bank (tentative name), which is in the process of being established by a group of companies led by The Sakura Bank, Ltd. and The Sumitomo Bank, Ltd.

1. Purpose

(1) To improve the convenience of i-mode service.
(2) To provide a leading-edge Internet financial-information service that can be accessed via mobile terminals.

2. Overview of Investment


Investment Amount 1 billion
Investment Percentage 5%

Sakura Bank, 55%; Sumitomo Bank, 10%; Fujitsu, 10%; Nippon Life Insurance, 10%; Tokyo Electric Power, 5 %; Mitsui & Co., 5%; NTT DoCoMo, 5%

4. Location: Shinjuku Ward, Tokyo

5. President and Representative Director: To be dispatched from Sakura Bank

6. Number of Employees: Approximately 40

(1) Internet online bank
(2) Settlement accounts, time deposits, exchanges, small loans
(3) Customers of the bank will be issued a cash card that can be used at Sakura Bank's ATMs and those of other banks.
