NTT DoCoMo, 3COM Teaming Up On Wireless Data Services to Promote Palm Computing Platform in Japan

Tokyo Japan, June 14, 1999 -- NTT Mobile Communications Network, Inc., (NTT DoCoMo) and 3Com Corporation (3Com) signed a Memorandum of Understanding today after reaching a basic agreement to promote technical and business tie-ups aimed at developing new products and services that utilize NTT DoCoMo's wireless data communications and 3COM's Palm Computing platform.

NTT DoCoMo and 3Com will exchange technical data regarding NTT DoCoMo's wireless data communications technology and 3Com's Palm Computing platform devices and wireless applications. The companies will consider jointly providing a wireless data communications service utilizing 3Com's Palm devices and a "solutions business." In addition, NTT DoCoMo and 3Com will collaborate to promote mobile multimedia services.

3Com's Plam Computing Platform device is a handheld computing device with a relatively large liquid crystal display (LCD) screen. The device is very easy to operate due to its standardized manipulation and simple design.
