NTT DoCoMo group will actively participate in an afforestation project starting this month in Yamaguchi Prefecture to promote environmental awareness. The goal of the "DoCoMo Woods" campaign is to plant new trees in nine areas throughout Japan within five years, or two areas per year. The project is being realized through a fund established by the National Land Afforestation Promotion Organization in cooperation with Japan's Forestry Agency*. The first phase of the afforestation project will take place at a national forest in Yamaguchi Prefecture and will be carried out by DoCoMo employees.

*The Forestry Agency has designed the project to provide major corporations with an opportunity to contribute to society by replenishing wooded areas and protecting wildlife habitats.
