The two companies will exchange information on the EPOC OS, including platforms and applications, which Symbian has developed for mobile terminals.
NTT DoCoMo has been developing W-CDMA, a radio transmission technology for a proposed third-generation mobile communications system, which has wide support in the European telecom industry.
EPOC OS, which has been well received by major manufacturers in the European market, has very good prospects for use in third-generation cellular phones and other mobile terminals, as well as adoption as an international standard. Opportunities for use with personal digital assistants and other applications are also being pursued.
