NTT DoCoMo, Telephone Organization of Thailand, and NEC to jointly test third-generation mobile communications system

NTT Mobile Communications Network, Inc. (NTT DoCoMo; Keiji Tacahikawa; President: Headquarters: Minato-ku, Tokyo), Telephone Organization of Thailand (TOT; Tongchai Yongchareon, President; Headquarters: Bangkok, Kingdom of Thailand), a Thai Telecommunications operator, and NEC have agreed to jointly test a third-generation mobile communications system (W-CDMA) and have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to that effect.

NTT DoCoMo signed the MoU with the TOT in March 1998 regarding mutual collaboration on third-generation mobile communications system. Since then, NTT DoCoMo has contributed to the partnership by exporting W-CDMA technologies to the TOT. The collaboration between NTT DoCoMo and TOT is expected to be strengthened as a result.
