| NTT Mobile Communications Network Inc. (NTT DoCoMo; Keiji Tachikawa, President; headquarters: Minato-ku, Tokyo) announced that NTT DoCoMo Group would establish its first overseas subsidiary, DoCoMo Europe S.A., in Paris later this month. The local corporation will be a joint investment by eight group companies: NTT DoCoMo Hokkaido, NTT DoCoMo Tohoku, NTT DoCoMo Tokai, NTT DoCoMo Hokuriku, NTT DoCoMo Kansai, NTT DoCoMo Chugoku, NTT DoCoMo Shikoku, and NTT DoCoMo Kyushu. NTT DoCoMo is opening a European office in an effort to establish a base in Europe, where efforts are accelerating to establish standards for a third-generation mobile communications system (IMT-2000/UMTS) by the ETSI and related organizations. NTT DoCoMo is actively promoting its participation in standardization efforts in Europe and making alliance with European operators and manufacturers. |

Dr. Masami Yabusaki Executive Engineer NTT Mobile Communications Network, Inc. He joined Nippon Telegraph and Telephone Corporation (NTT) in 1984. He was engaged in research of on-board baseband switch for an SS-TDMA system during 1984-1987 and development of switch hardware and software for personal digital cellular (PDC) system during 1988-1991. From 1992-1993, he was in charge of developing personal mobile telecommunication (PMT) and reflecting its concept to several ITU-T recommendations on UPT. Currently, he is an executive engineer in NTT Mobile Communications Network, Inc. (NTT DoCoMo), and is responsible for developing the third generation mobile communications network. His interest includes all the mobile network-related technologies such as IN, UPT, ATM, and TMN. He is a rapporteur of ITU-T SG11 Q.23 on IMT-2000 radio access signaling. He is also a chairman of WG-4 under Technical committee No.6 in the TTC, Japan. He authored a part of book "Digital Mobile Communications" published by Kagaku-shinbunsha, 1992. He won the Young Engineers Award from IEICE in 1989. Dr. YABUSAKI is a member of the IEICE in Japan and IEEE.
