NTT Mobile Communications Network, Inc. (NTT DoCoMo; Kouji Ohboshi, President; Capital: 15.9 billion) announces that its NTT DoCoMo R&D Center at Yokosuka Research Park (YRP) will be completed on March 26, 1998. The research center is being built to respond to the increasingly diversified needs for mobile communications services in the coming mobile multimedia age.

NTT DoCoMo will consolidate its research and development staff, which is currently working at eight different sites in the Tokyo metropolitan area, into a single location for faster and more efficient research and development.

More than thirty mobile communications-related companies and other organizations from Japan and abroad have participated in the Yokosuka Research Park since its opening in October 1997, and are conducting research and development on a global scale.

NTT DoCoMo will continue to promote its most up-to-date and diversified research and development programs, including basic technology and "W-CDMA," a next-generation mobile communications system.
