SK Telecom, Ericsson, Nokia and NTT DoCoMo Hold Joint Seminar on Development of Next-Generation Mobile Communications Systems

NTT Mobile Communications Network, Inc. (NTT DoCoMo; Kouji Ohboshi, President; headquartered in Minato-ku, Tokyo) will hold a joint seminar on a next-generation mobile communications system with SK Telecom (Jung-Uck Seo, President; headquartered in Seoul, Korea), Ericsson (Lars Ramqvist, President; headquartered in Stockholm, Sweden), Nokia (Pekka Ala-Pietila; headquartered in Espoo, Finland) on November 12, 1997, at P.T. / Wireless Comm China '97 to be held in Beijing, People's Republic of China, from November 11 to November 15, 1997, under the sponsorship of Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications (China).


The following is an outline of the joint seminar.

1. Date / time: 1:15 p.m.- 3:45 p.m., November 12, 1997

2. Place: General Service Centre Building 204, China International Exhibition Centre (Venue for P.T. / Wireless Comm China '97)

3. Presentations:
1) NTT DoCoMo's Efforts to Establish a Next-Generation Mobile Communications System By Mr. Takanori Utano, Senior Manager, Research and Development Department, NTT DoCoMo

2) SK Telecom's Efforts to Establish a Next-Generation Mobile Communications System By Mr. Byung Moo Kim, General Manager, FPLMTS R&D Center, SK Telecom

3) Next-Generation Mobile Communications System (Network) By Mr. Jan Malm, Vice-President, Ericsson China

4) Next-Generation Mobile Communications System (Terminal) By Mr. Jaakko Hulkko, Vice-President, R&D Department, Nokia

NTT DoCoMo will continue to cooperate with the Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications in domestic standardization efforts, and make an active contribution to the global standardization activities of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) and other organizations in harmony with other countries.
