UMTS

Universal Mobile Telecommunications System. A standard for third-generation mobile phone (3G) services in Europe. The standards are set by the UMTS Forum, a non-profit organization whose members include European government telecommunications agencies, telecommunications operators, manufacturers and research organizations. A generic term used for W-CDMA in Europe and other regions.
