digital television

A replacement for conventional analog TV broadcasting in an on-going transition to global digital TV broadcasting for more efficient use of the frequency band.

The terrestrial digital TV broadcasting formats include Japan's ISDB-T (ISDB: Integrated Services Digital Broadcasting), the ATSC (Advanced Television Systems Committee) system of the U.S., and Europe's DVB-T (DVB: Digital Video Broadcasting) system. In Japan, ISDB-T is used to provide broadcasting for mobile terminals in a service called “One-segment.”
