3.9-generation mobile telephone technology. A digital mobile phone system that will be based on 3G but with expanded capabilities close to that of 4G. Feasibility and standardization are being studied with the objective of achieving a smooth transitional link between the current 3G and future 4G. NTT DOCOMO is also working on an integration of specifications.
