DOCOMO's wholly-owned subsidiary DOCOMO PACIFIC, INC. will launch the MAX CHANNEL service in Guam and Saipan from December 9. The new offering is based on DOCOMO's i-channel™ service, which some 16.5 million subscribers in Japan use to receive up-to-date news sent directly to the standby screens of their handsets.

DOCOMO Deutschland raised its stake in net mobile AG, an international mobile-content distribution-platform company in Düsseldorf, to about 81.4% through subscription of new shares. This followed the acquisition of nearly 79.6% of share capital and voting rights through a public tender offer that closed late in the previous month. The two parties expect their new partnership to contribute to mutual growth.

DOCOMO has developed base stations equipped with remote radio equipment (RRE) units to provide both existing W-CDMA and forthcoming LTE services. The RRE (also known as a remote radio head) facilitates the relatively easy and efficient installation of LTE base stations in existing W-CDMA base stations. The RRE-equipped base stations will account for about half of the initial LTE base stations when DOCOMO launches its LTE service in December 2010.

January 8, 2010
DOCOMO has developed a prototype multi-band power amplifier that accommodates eight frequency bands between 700 MHz and 2.5 GHz. The amplifier will enable the manufacture of lightweight, all-in-one mobile phones capable of standalone wireless communications based on various standards, including the new, extra-fast LTE standard as well as existing W-CDMA and GSM.
