July 28, 2009 DOCOMO announced the August 7 release of a waterproof and dustproof handset. The "NTT DOCOMORaku-Raku PHONENTT DOCOMO 6" can be used safely in the bath and kitchen, and can be washed off for cleaning. The user-friendly design features large fonts, screen and buttons. One-Seg mobile TV is also available.

September 14, 2009 DOCOMO announced the development of a handset with a bar code reader for launch in the first quarter of 2010. Equipped with Windows MobileR 6.5 Professional, BluetoothR and Wi-FiR, it can be used as a corporate handset. Both waterproof and dustproof, it has a user-friendly touch panel.

September 29, 2009 DOCOMO Europe announced the start of i-channel™, a news and information service, as a service of berrymobile from November 2. Customized for Japanese speakers in the U.K., i-channel will provide Japanese news and information, U.K. weather forecasts and news in Europe by automatically sending scrolling text headlines to a phone's standby screen.

November 10, 2009 DOCOMO introduced 19 new handsets and a 3G-equipped digital photo frame for launch on or after November 18. The lineup, which comprises models in DOCOMO's four main series of FOMA 3G handsets, includes the world's fi rst mobile phone to separate into two modules. New features includes further personalized services such as Automatic GPS positioning and MyArea, the latter creating private FOMA areas for highly stable wireless environments using enhanced femtocell base stations in homes.
