Over 10 Million Subscribe to DOCOMO's Credit Payment Service

Subscribers to DCMX™ topped 10 million on August 24, just 40 months since its April 2006 launch. A service brand for DOCOMO-issued credit cards, DCMX allows subscribers to make purchases using their mobile phones as credit cards via iD™, DOCOMO's branded mobile platform for handsets with contactless IC chips (Osaifu-Keitai™). Rapid DCMX growth was helped by the popularization of Osaifu-Keitai and iD read/write terminals, along with customer loyalty promotions. Osaifu-Keitai handsets now exceed 35.8 million, or nearly 65% of DOCOMO's customer base. As of September 30, some 420,000 iD terminals nationwide are used in stores, restaurants and taxis for payment transactions. For each purchase transaction, DCMX standard and GOLD plan subscribers earn DOCOMO loyalty points exchangeable for DOCOMO product discounts and other rewards. There are also bonus point programs at selected retailers and DOCOMO's online shopping mall.
