New Lineup of 18 FOMA™ 3G Handsets
May 19, 2009 DOCOMO introduced an innovative lineup of 18 FOMA™ 3G handsets for launch on or after May 22. The handsets basically comprise four main series, each based on a distinct form/function concept targeting specific user groups, plus the Evangelion Phone inspired by an animation sci-fi film released in June.

Launched Mobile Remittance Service
July 2, 2009 From July 21, i-mode™ users on the FOMA 3G network will be able to remit up to 20,000 yen (about $208) per transfer basically by inputting the payee's DOCOMO phone number, with no bank account number required. The charge is just 105 yen to the payer and free to the payee if the amount is credited to their DOCOMO phone bill.

Strategic Alliance of DOCOMO and PV
July 6, 2009 DOCOMO acquired a 35-percent stake in California-based PacketVideo, a subsidiary of NextWave Wireless, for $45.5 million. The strategic alliance will enable DOCOMO to enhance its music and video service offerings while augmenting the competitiveness of both companies.

Enhanced Femtocell Base Transceiver
July 7, 2009 DOCOMO developed a highly compact indoor base transceiver station, or femtocell BTS, for extra-fast data communication and highly practical service under DOCOMO's "Home Area" concept of linking mobile phones to the DOCOMO network via broadband connection in the home.

Solar-powered Handset Introduced
July 15, 2009 The SOLAR HYBRID (SH-08A) is a solar-powered, waterproof mobile phone to be introduced in the docomo STYLE series™ in Japan this September. Even if the battery completely loses its charge, just 10 minutes of solar recharging via a panel on the body provides about one minute of talk time.
