NTT DoCoMo provides a broad array of handsets. Besides standard models such as the FOMA903i series and the FOMA703i series, there are handsets that are designed to meet the broadest possible range of customer needs, through their external design, internal applications, and network services.
For instance, the RakuRaku PHONES, which are based on a 'universal design' concept, have been removing any uncertainty that seniors might have about using mobile phones. Since the first model was launched in 1999, almost 10 million of these phones have been sold. According to a survey by the Japanese Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications in 2005, 69.3% of individuals over 60 were mobile phone users, while 36.5% of those individuals were PC users. This data proves that mobile phones are becoming more and more universal among seniors in Japan.
In Features, we focus on functions and designs of those handsets.
